About Me
I have been practicing yoga since I was a child, growing up with a Mum who first practiced yoga and then studied to become a yoga teacher, she has taught Yoga for over 40 years in Sale. I have always been interested in health and fitness and always incorporated yoga postures in my exercise regime, but became more interested in all aspects of yoga including the history and yogic philosophy after the birth of my first son in 2005. I took him to Mother and Baby yoga classes and began to fully understand all the benefits of yoga – not just the physical.
I then decided to train to become a yoga teacher just like my Mum and qualified as a Hatha Yoga Instructor in 2007 – then going on to complete several more courses to deepen my knowledge.

I have attended many workshops, several with International Ashtanga teacher Kino MacGregor, Claire Missingham and David Sye of Yogabeats. I regularly attend yoga workshops locally with all the amazing yoga teachers in the North West, drawing on many different styles of yoga in order to enhance my own teaching style.
In 2014 I furthered my studies of pranayama with Pranayama Master Sri O.P. Tiwari when he was visiting the UK from India, this was a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the breathing practices of yoga.
In 2015 I completed courses in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and NLP which I hope will enhance my yoga teaching especially when working one to one with students in a therapeutic way tackling issues such as anxiety and stress related problems. I have also been attuned to Reiki Master level and Crystal Reiki with Lisa Powers, and can work this into one to one yoga sessions if requested.
In 2019 I began studying Holistic Kinesiology and qualified in this practice in 2020. This has been a really important add-on to my yoga training.
About Barbara
My Mum, Barbara Basketter, has been practicing yoga since 1976. She attended many classes before deciding she wanted to pass on her yoga knowledge to others and become a yoga teacher –she studied Iyengar yoga for a year and then went on to study with The British School of Yoga qualifying as a yoga teacher in 1984, she also has a qualification in Stress Management.
Since then she has taught yoga to hundreds (probably thousands!) of yoga students in the Sale area, teaching her own private classes and also teaching in Health Clubs and Secondary schools. Currently she teaches one class per week, during term time and still has a daily yoga practice herself.
